THE DAY APPROACHES

Jeremiah 30: 10 Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the
LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and
thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall
be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full
end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full
end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee
altogether unpunished.
22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a
continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the
wicked. 24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he
have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart:
in the latter days ye shall consider it.
THE DAY APPROACHES
That is – the Day mentioned above when Israel is fully
reconciled to her God. That Day is approaching rapidly
as the following article indicates present events confirm.
The God of the Armies of Israel
Israel Today 01-Aug-14
Operation Protective Edge is exposing a new phenomenon that may
prove to be a source of strength for the IDF and for Israel. Col. Ofer
Winter, commander of the Givati Infantry Brigade, recently wrote
unprecedented words of encouragement to his soldiers: "History chose
us to be the spearhead in the fight against the 'Gazan' terrorist enemy
that defies, blasphemes, and curses the God of the armies of Israel. “
They were words that clearly echoed David's own words to Goliath.
Winter added a brief prayer: "I lift up my eyes to heaven and call with
you, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!' The letter
ended with a wish for the fulfilment of the verse "The Lord, your God,
who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies and gives
you victory."
The content of Winter's letter to his soldiers, as well as the courage it
took to take this position, is yet another clear indication that the familiar
secular discourse regarding Israel's security is not enough to boost
motivation to win the battle. _
Some who are still captive to the idea that secular Zionism is the only
adhesive that can unite all Israelis were horrified by Winter's bold
pronouncement that framed the Israeli-Arab conflict in metaphysical
terms.
As a secular movement, however, Zionism sees Israel as a refuge for
the Jewish people that must be protected at all costs. This was a
strange idea to begin with, because the Zionist movement itself
would have never come into being without the most profound
hopes rooted in the Bible.
Jews returned to the Land of Israel because they believed it was
theirs; otherwise they would have never come. This means that
secular as the Zionist movement is, it never lost sight of the fact
that the Jews are the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
and thus entitled to the land God has given to their fathers.
For many decades, however, Israelis have been led to believe that the
Israeli-Arab conflict is no more than a national struggle over territory,
and that it will be better for all if God remains in the background. Israel's
existence, the argument goes, is justified on the basis of distant history
and modern values.
But over the past 10 years, a growing number of Israelis have begun
coming to the conclusion that Israel and God are in fact inseparable,
and that the existence of the former depends upon that of the latter.
The August edition of SOT ended with this comment:
SOT has previously drawn attention to Isaiah 11:10-16….
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines
toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together:
It appears that this is now being at least partially fulfilled!
The first part regarding the “Philistine” Gaza Strip to the
west is being dramatically fulfilled as Isaiah foretold. But
Israel’s pursuit of rocket sites and terrorists killed many
civilians, resulting the condemnation of Israel by the UN.
The following article demonstrates the fact that
Benyamin Netanyahu’s command to attack the tunnels
was only just in time to prevent hundreds of Hamas
armed terrorists emerging from them within the Israeli
villages situated close to the border with the Gaza Strip!
We can only imagine the slaughter his action prevented!

IRAN SEEKS REVENGE FOR ITS LOSSES
Iran supplied the long-range rockets and $millions in
cash and other armaments for Hamas in Gaza, only to see
their rockets countered by Israel’s Iron Dome, with most
being deflected or intercepted before reaching their target.
In Lebanon, the Hezbollah have used up much of the
armaments supplied to them by Iran while supporting the
Assad regime in Syria. With the ISIL now occupying
much of the territory between Iran, Syria and Lebanon
resupplying Hezbollah will be a problem.
Not one to give up on their determination to destroy
Israel, Iran is now busy concentrating on the West Bank!
A former adviser to Iran’s defence minister said that Tehran
would seek to arm Palestinians in the Judea and Samaria
region (West Bank) with “strategic weapons,” including
missiles to target Tel Aviv and Haifa.
“A new front must be opened from the West Bank, after it has been
armed, especially with missiles,” Amir Mousavi said in comments
relayed by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI),
“because we know very well that the distance between the West Bank
and Tel Aviv, Haifa, and other areas is much shorter than the distance
from Gaza. Therefore, simple means are required. There is no need for
long-range missiles. Short-range missiles can change the entire picture
in the occupied lands.”
Iranian researcher Amir Mousavi added that Gaza would also receive
increased military support from Iran. As for the Palestinian Authority
which controls the West Bank and has in recent years cooperated
closely with Israel on security issues, Mousavi remarked: “We hope that
the brothers in the PA will help rather than impede this.”
A former adviser to Iran’s defense minister said that Tehran would
seek to arm Palestinians in the West Bank with “strategic
weapons” including missiles to target Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Iranian researcher Amir Mousavi told Lebanon’s Mayadeen TV channel
this week that “a major reshuffle awaits the region” as “new and
significant fronts will be opened all of a sudden, to support the
Palestinian cause in the West Bank and Gaza.”
On Tuesday Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the
Islamic world to arm Palestinians to allow them to counter what he
called Israel’s “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.
In a speech marking the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr, Khamenei said
Israel was acting like a “rabid dog” and “a wild wolf,” causing a human
catastrophe that must be resisted.
“The US president issued a fatwa that the resistance is disarmed so
that they cannot respond to all those crimes (committed by Israel),” the
supreme leader said, referring to Barack Obama’s call for the
“disarmament of terrorist groups and the demilitarization of Gaza.”
“We say the opposite. The world and especially the Islamic world
should arm… the Palestinian people.”
It was Iran that helped design and build the tunnels and
hide rockets in schools, shelters and mosques! Madmen?
Air Force takes out 40 mosques-cum-terror bases, add new drone.
31 July, 2014 The Israeli Air Force destroyed 40 mosques converted
into rocket and arms stores inside Gaza overnight Tuesday, July 20.
Ending the rocket threat is deemed as important as the destruction of
terror tunnels. Both projects continue apace as the IDF prepares for an
order to terminate the ground stage of the Gaza operation. The air force
brought forward the battlefield debut of the new Hermes 900 UAV,
known as “Star,” to take advantage of its exceptional ability to perform
surveillance and communication work at high altitudes while carrying a
heavy weapons load.
Israel to investigate source of UNWRA school shelling
Israel to probe source of the shelling Wednesday of a
UN school housing displaced civilians in Gaza, which
killed at least 16 people. The US and UN condemned the
attack without citing Israel. An Israeli spokesman said:
"It's not clear to us that it was our fire but we know for
a fact there was hostile mortar fire on our people from
the vicinity of the school." He accused Hamas, which
controls Gaza, of hiding weapons in civilian facilities
and UN shelters.
US satellite photos show Russia rocket fire into
Ukraine By EUOBSERVER

The US on Sunday released photos it says shows rockets being fired
into Ukraine from Russia, reports the Guardian. The images also show
heavy Russian artillery being moved into area. The heavy weapons fire
occurred between 21 July and 26 July, after the Malaysia Airlines crash
on 17 July.
Ukraine’s impact on Russia
The crisis in Ukraine now dominates the Russian foreign and domestic
policy agendas. To a large extent, Russia’s actions in Ukraine have
been self-defeating. Now, certain trends that Russia sought to prevent
have been accelerated: a stronger US and NATO commitment to
central Europe, greater investment in energy security by the EU, an
anti-Russian mood across Ukraine, and a decline in foreign direct
investment in the Russian economy. Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia
have now all signed Association Agreements with the EU: and once
these agreements are ratified, Russia’s hopes to include these
countries in the Eurasian Union to will be all but dashed.
Virtually everyone may end up worse off because of the crisis in
Ukraine. Russia might now be territorially bigger, but it is no stronger.
Obviously there is a difference of opinion regarding the
final statement above. NATO is worried about Russia, as
are many Christians, but the present threat to Israel comes
from their Arabic neighbours who are financed by Iran.
The sequence in Ezekiel (ch.35-39) shows clearly that
the Arabs’ “perpetual hatred” will result in their final
destruction and “David, My Servant” establish the New
Covenant before the nations in Ezekiel 38-39 make their
move against Israel who, by then, are “dwelling safely.”
Tensions being aroused in Europe over the Middle East
may exacerbate unrest in the many millions of Muslims
now residing there – a more formidable threat to Europe!
NATO to strengthen military exercises after
Russia 'aggression'
4
th August, 2014 by Honor Mahoney.
BRUSSELS - NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said the
transatlantic military alliance will draw up new defence plans following
Russia's "aggression" in Ukraine.
In an interview with French regional newspaper Midi Libre, published
Sunday (4 August), he said that “Russia's aggression was a warning
and created a new security situation in Europe”.
"We will strengthen military exercises and prepare new defence plans,"
he said, reports AFP.
With an eye on what is turning out to be a key NATO meeting in Wales
at the beginning of September, Rasmussen drew attention to the
defence-spending discrepancies between Russia and NATO members.
He noted that while Russia had increased its defence spending by 50
percent over the past five years, NATO countries have, on average,
reduced theirs by 20 percent. "We must reverse this trend," he said.
He said that he regretted that Russia considered NATO a foe but "we
have to adapt to this new situation". Rasmussen's comments came on
the back of a letter from British leader David Cameron to NATO leaders
calling on them to "make clear to Russia that neither NATO nor its
members will be intimidated.”
If the above reasoning is correct, the current “cease-fire”
cannot last as the Arabic “perpetual hatred” against Israel
must burst forth in the fury foretold by the prophets of old
and the faith of both the disciples of Jesus and Israel will
be tested in a time of “great tribulation” and a “time of
trouble such as never was.”
